Sankranthi is one of the biggest festivals in India. It is a harvest and thanksgiving festival marking the start of spring, the end of the traditional farming season, and the gathering of the first food from the harvest. It is also called by various names, such as Makar Sankranti 2027 in Maharashtra and Gujarat, Pongal in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka, Lohri in Punjab, and Kicheri in Uttar Pradesh.
Sankranti is unique among Hindu festivals, as the date is based on a solar calendar rather than the phases of the moon.
As per the calendar, the Sankranthi Festival is on 15th January 2027. On the occasion of Sankranthi, women especially love to decorate their houses with flowers and beautiful Rangoli designs.
